More About The Single

Just Released – Same Dirt – New Single from Blane Howard

“No matter where you grew up on this earth, we all come from the SAME DIRT!”

Independent country artist Blane Howard was thrilled to finally release the single on May 17. “Same Dirt” will not only captivate your heart, but it will also tug at your emotions by bringing the chaos of the world and fragility of human life into perspective.

Written by Howard and Erik Halbig back in 2020, the song strikes a chord with many people right now, suggesting a message of unity and equality and reminding us that we all come from the same place, and ultimately will return to the same place regardless of our differences. While the issues of our world are deliberated in the media daily, we reflect on the shared human experience. The song is layered with symbolism and invites the listener to reflect on their own place in the world and their connection to others.

Genisis 3:19 “…from dust you are, and to dust you will return.”

“Love this song!!!! We need to always remember no matter who you are or what you do for a living, we all some from the “Same Dirt.” Think about this before you say something about others, life is too short. Thanks for the reminder, Blane.” – Libby N, fan

“OMG! I have chills. Wow! Love love love it!” – Tonia K, fan

Blane was born in SE Kansas, but grew up in Arkansas. He would frequently visit his grandparents’ house as a kid, and he quickly learned that the team to root for was the Kansas City Chiefs, as his grandpa was a huge fan.  Since there are no professional teams in Arkansas, he chose the family team, and Blane has been cheering them on ever since.

Before heading on his first trip to Arrowhead Stadium in January of 2019, Blane wrote a parody to the blues classic “Kansas City,” which was met with great reactions from Chiefs fans, and even made it on the news in KC. In the 2019- 2020 playoffs came a parody of Roger Miller’s “Kansas City Star” which he changed to “Kansas City Fan…that’s what I am!”  He would post a new version of the parody on social media each time the Chiefs won, and Chiefs fans started finding them and wanting more. Thankfully, as the Chiefs success grew, so did the parodies. After the Chiefs won the Super Bowl in February of 2020, COVID shut down all shows and performances on Blane’s schedule for the year. Finding himself with some time on his hands, he thought: “I write and sing songs for a living, why don’t I write one about the Chiefs.” Since the Chiefs were coming off a Super Bowl victory, and the team and fans were ready to run it back, the first original song he wrote for the Chiefs, was titled “Run It Back.” The song and the subsequent Hype Video went viral during the 2021 playoffs, and the Chiefs organization even used the song for a promo on social media.

Ultimately, the Chiefs fell short of running it back in 2021, losing to Tampa Bay in the Super Bowl. Following the success of “Run It Back,” the following season he released a remix of the song titled, “Take It Back,” as well as continuing his parodies during the playoffs. He wrote parodies from country songs to classic rock, which included an entire section of Queen songs in 2023. The parodies were so popular that fans kept asking him to write more than his usual one per week. When the Chiefs won the Super Bowl again in 2023, Blane wrapped up his string of Queen parodies with “We Are the Champions.” The next season, Blane ended up writing the third song in his trilogy of Chiefs songs, “How Bout Those Chiefs,” paying homage to Coach Andy Reid, using his locker room motto as the title.

Making another attempt to run it back in 2024, Blane returned to his country roots using songs from Garth Brooks, Brooks and Dunn, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash. In total, his 2024 Chiefs parodies were viewed over 20 million times on social media. Fans bombarded Blane with requests for more, and even threw out song suggestions for the next parody. The response was so great, Blane even wrote a parody with the fans during a LIVE social media event.
